Jonesboro, AR - Disk

Clear day, a disk shape with rotating multi colored lights, silently hovering over trees in the back yard.

One afternoon, when I was about 8 years old, I was playing in the back yard, which was up against backwoods and a cornfield. I happened to look up and saw a disk like shape with big multi colored (red, green, yellow) lights moving around its outer edge. It was just quietly floating over the trees that bordered our back yard. So it was low to the ground and big. Its position was still and in a slight angle, left side down, right side up. It seemed as I stood staring at it…it was staring at me. I wasn’t frightened. It was interesting. Then it just moved on. That evening I told my father what I had seen.

I think of this occurrence from time to time and mentioned it to my father not to long ago. I was surprised that he remembered. He said he had been impressed by my “serious earnest” as I described this sighting. He knew I believed what I saw.

I’m an “Army Brat”; my father is now a retired Col. He was assigned to the ROTC at Arkansas University and at the time our house was in Jonesboro.

Only today, the thought occurred to me to google sightings in Arkansas around 1966-67 I’d love to know any thoughts to this curious happening.
