It was not a visual occurance but one of sound and motion.
We were about 12 years old at the time and were fishing in a farm pond created by a small damn in a gully on a hillside. It was a warm and sunny day with clear skies all around.We heard a loud steady noise coming from the top of the hill (similar to wind blowing through a pile of irrigation pipe commonly used at that time). We ran to the top of the hill where the noise was coming from but did not see any irrigation pipe anywhere. We were standing in what seemed like a very strong wind blowing straight down on us and the noise was coming from above us. The pasture grass was blown flat as if you would hold a leaf blower down to the ground. The area that was being affected was about 30' in diamater. As we stood there mystified as to what was causing the noise and wind, it started to move to the east away from us and subsided. We did not see any object in the sky. I really do not remember thinking about this to much but it is something that I have never forgotten. Several years ago I was having a couple of beers with a friend of my that was there that day. I said to him " Do you something that we have never talked about?" and he replied " You mean that day we went fishing?" and he refused to discuss it further. It seems strange that he would know exactly what I was talking about almost forty years later. I talked to a meterologist several weeks ago and described to him what we heard and felt and he did not seem to think it could have been a wind shear. I am looking for some explanation to this or is there instances of a similar occurance.
