We noticed three points of light that came together to form a triangle, hovered there, and then streaked off in different directions.
I was taking US Army advanced individual training (AIT) at Ft. Lewis, Washington in the summer of 1967, and was practicing setting up a squad perimeter defense at night. A buddy and I were assigned a ‘foxhole’ and told to watch out for the ‘enemy’. We were basically just lying around in the depression that was our ‘foxhole’, listening and watching for anyone approaching.
It was a clear night, and there were no lights or vegetation, other than grass, nearby, so the sky was broad and full of stars. We saw at least one satellite go across the sky, i.e. a point of light looking like a star, but traveling in a straight line and a constant speed.
Then we noticed, practically straight up, three points of light that came from different directions approaching each other. They looked very high, and no different than the satellite or the stars. They stopped at equal distances from each other, sort of forming a triangle, and hovered there. After a short time, they each streaked off in different directions.
My buddy and I agreed not to say anything about the sighting because we didn’t need or want any hassle from the Army or anyone else. I’ve always just told myself that we saw what we saw, and I didn’t need anyone telling me we didn’t see it. I’m reporting it now because I’m getting older and might die at any time. I just thought other UFO followers would like to know about it. I don’t have anything else to say about it, here or at any time.
