Saw a bright object at sunset above clouds that looked balloon shaped with binoculars.
Bright object the evening of the 15th of July. Looked like a balloon through binoculars but was totally stationary above the cloud layers. Saw it again the 16th during the day. Iโm a commercial pilot and cannot explain why it is above the cloud layers and is absolutely stationary and high altitude. It continued to reflect sunlight well after our sunset. No notams are filed for anything related to a stationary or tethered balloon. Called the Cheyenne Wyoming NWS and they had no relative information but told me they did not launch balloons, just the Riverton Wy NWS. It isnโt moving regardless and is very high unknown to the FAA from the information I can see.
