Dark silent craft

I witnessed a dark black solid spherical craft that appeared to be around 4x4 or 6x6 feet in diameter. It had four small outcroppings about 2 feet by .5 foot on the four quadrants. It had no lights and was witnessed around twilight hour. It made no sound.
My dog first noticed it and was staring at it in a fixed position approximately 60-80 feet off the ground at the edge of a grouping of trees, just above the trees. My dog does not usually pay attention to things in the air such as birds, so I thought it unusual. I then looked to see what my dog was staring at. The craft appeared to have been hovering just at the top of the grouping of trees over the Spring Creek, but it moved away slowly as soon as I looked at it.
It moved as if it were a balloon, gently and slowly, but it then sped up exponentially and greatly increased in altitude as it flew north. It flew in a straight line. As it flew away I faintly saw several small spheres appear and disappear that surrounded the main sphere, which made it look like a Ferris wheel. This happened 2-3 times and lasted just a few seconds each time.
After the event my dog started at me for about 30-45 seconds, which is unusual. My dog has also done this a few other times since the episode when we go back to the area of the sighting.
During the sighting and immediately after I felt at peace. After about 45 minutes afterward, when I was in my apartment, I felt a sudden fear and paranoia hit me and an intense need to lock all my windows and shut the curtains, something I rarely do.
