Orange light appeared in the distance, flew for a ways, then descended straight down.
For the past month I've been driving out to Cumberland county, which neighbors mine (Powhatan) to stargaze. I found a nice, giant empty field in the middle of the county with no light pollution, and I lay on my car roof at night. On the 14th, I saw an orange light, larger than a star, suddenly appear. There was a thick cloud cover that night, so stars, planes, and satellites could not be seen. The light was consistent, no strobe, and it flew in a kind of wavy line for what looked from my position to be a couple hundred feet, then it just slowly descended. It was hard to tell if the object was moving in a straight line or if it was wavering.
The oddest part was that there were animals in that direction that were freaking out, dogs, cows; I even heard a donkey braying.
