Glowing sphere speeding and blinking in Gainesville, Fl

A co-worker and myself where driving home from a out of town job. He pointed and showed me what look like a commit (sic. comet) up at a angle. It was a glowing orangish sphere with a red tint with a tail looked like a commit, but it looked like flame from a turbine/jet eingine. It took up the entire width of the sphere which seemed odd to me and was coming out to about doune the sphere. It was going upword ar a 45° angle. It then went straight and in the north direction. Then the tail disappeared and it was a glowing ball of orange and red. It than vanished and reappeared at a much farther away by about a 3rd of it's size than kept going north than would blink and reappeared in a South that north agian in what appeared to be a strait line. Than dissapeared completely. It was about to put the size of a nickel or quarter the first time than about the size of a dime the 2nd part. I am near sighted and did not have my glasses on, so the shape and size would be slightly off but not much.

I was a U.S. Marine for 9 years and at one point on the aviation side and from what I have seen and know it is impossible for a aircraft to move and stop thrusting and go in the opposite by direction is impossible at this point in time. I also got out in 2013 so I believe my frame of reference should still be pretty accurate.
