light above southern mountains (Ashland area)
At about 7:00pm today, I was standing on my back porch with my mom and dad, facing south. There was a bright light, in the south, that flashed on and off. Then a few minutes later it flashed on and off again. Off to the southwest, another light flashed on and off. Again a few minutes later, it came back on. This time it was very bright and then disappeared.
This is not the first time that we have witnessed this phenomenon. It has been happening for quite a few years.
I have asked a couple of pilots and they told me that they planes landing at the airport. We live in the flight path of the planes landing and taking off, so I know that what we have seen is NOT airplanes.
Even though this time, the lights were out relatively a short time, other times they can be seen for up to 10 minutes before disappearing.
I really don't know what this is, I am hoping that someone out there might be able to give me an explanation.
