Bright red object 'hovering' for approximately 5 seconds then shot away rapidly
Witness observed a bright red object in the sky due west of his location just above tree line but at a distance. Object remained in fixed stable position for approximately 5 seconds then abruptly shot away to the south/southwest at a speed that is indescribable. Four others with him witnessed the event. Object made no noise.
Observer has been in the aviation sector for 40 years and has never seen an object move at the speed that was witnessed.
