At dusk we saw a bright star just south of directly overhead. Was brighter than any other star or planet seen in night sky. As we were watching it, the object became two stars right next to each other and a bit dimmer. Then it split into three stars all lined up in a row right next to each other and dimmer still. Then all dimmed out and were gone.
