I was driving on the Bruce Highway (also known as the National Hwy A1) south near Mt Larcom Queensland around 20:00 and noticed two green lights very high in the sky above and in front of me. I initially thought it was a plane preparing to land at Rockhampton, which was about 70 kms behind me. As I kept looking up (between watching the road), I realised that the lights were stationary and just “hanging” there. After a minute or two I had driven too far to observe them from my front windscreen any more.
Then, about five minutes later I observed what appeared to be a motorcycle headlight on high beam coming up behind me on the highway. It approached very fast again making me think it was a motorcycle. The light was extremely bright as it approached and only took seconds to travel from way back behind me to a point just behind my car where I noticed that it looked to be about as large around as a basketball or perhaps slightly bigger and intensely bright white. I was looking back and forth at the road in front of me and in my rear-view mirrors at the light expecting it to pass me when it just went dark. There was no turnoff and nothing passed me – it was just gone.
I pondered what had just happened for several hours as I continued to drive home and resolved to report it as a UFO.
