Unidentified Flying Object above Catalina Island, June 2015.
Sat on the beach with my wife at Desconso Bay on Fri June 26, 2015, and approx 200ft directly above us, saw what appeared to be a drone hovering.
Didn't think anything unusual until it took off directly out to sea (Easterly) at a speed that I would imagine to be too great for a civilian use drone.
It also continued until it was out of sight - I was under the impression that civilian use drones had to be used "within sight" as per FAA regulations - and I don't know what civilian use radio signal could possibly go that distance?
I am an aircraft mechanic an hold a Sports Pilot License and have no explanation as to what this could be...
