Slow moving flaming fireball and falling fireball.
We were standing outside on the 7th floor of our building where there is a pool deck and barbecue cooking steaks when over the water of Biscayne Bay - due east of us about 1 mile - we saw a very slow moving flaming object - quite large (this is on the approach to Miami Airport so we see planes in that vicinity every few minutes - It looked like what you imagine a large commercial jet, engulfed in flames - would look like.
After about 15 seconds a ball of flame fell, arcing downwards from the body of the main fireball. I had my phone out and shot some video - not terribly distinguishable - the falling flame disappeared behind the buildings in our view towards the water. The main flame faded out immediately and disappeared. It did appear that there were lights in the same area and they turned 270 degrees and headed north, looking like a normal plane's lights.... Very weird.
We thought that it possibly could be a banner like the ones they tow behind planes over! the beach had somehow gotten ignited and was detached but it was much higher than those planes fly and I have no idea how you would ignite something like that.
