A big round ball of light moving swiftly overhead, turned completely red for a split second, and suddenly vanished.

I was sitting on the steps of the deck, when I looked straight up into the sky overhead. What I saw was a large round object moving far above me at a relatively high rate of speed.
As this object raced across and was sort of more forward of my sight than it was straight overhead, it turned completely red for just a split second and then absolutely...DISAPPEARED.
To clarify it, I have to say that the object was 100% white light---there was nothing else to be seen (such as perhaps some type of framing); it was simply a round, solid white light, although it did not appear to be shiny.
