2014-06-06 - Racine, WI - Unknown

Two amber lights spotted at low altitude traveling slowly mostly NW away from Lake Michigan in SE Wis.

I was headed NNE on Wisconsin Hwy 32, just north of the Kenosha/Racine border, approaching Racine at 11:02pm.

I spotted two strong amber lights, roughly 1040 above the horizon, and slightly to my right. They were several degrees apart and appeared to be approaching me very slowly.

While the lights were not consistant with FAA regulation aircraft lights, the lights, which were always a precise degree apart, appeared to be lowering in altitude, as if a craft were about to make an emergency landing. The (craft) appeared to be between 300 and 500 ft altitude during the incident.

I immediately pulled over to observe closer and at a presumably safer location. The craft then stopped its decent and began to move in a northwesternly direction (away from Lake Michigan) and increase slighty in altitude. Also, the lights appeared slightly closer together, indicating the craft pitched into a different attitude.

Unfortunately at this time a police car pulled in back! of me.

The craft continuted out of sight but I was unable to track it further as I had to explain to the officer what I was doing pulled over to the side. I continued on my way home after the Officer ran a 28 and dismissed me.
