2014-05-01 - Los Angeles, CA - Light

A star like object, flashing red and blue as well as glimmering, in a west-southwest direction in Los Angeles.

It was about 9PM in Los Angeles, I was walking to my car up the street to get something out of it, and I looked up in the west-southwest direction and saw what looked like a star, except I could see that it was glinting or glimmering, and very obviously turning blue and red.

I live under a flight path, so I've seen a lot of airplanes above my house and coming in from the distance, but this looked much higher and farther away than they usually are. I then thought it might be a police helicopter, because of the presence of red and blue lights and the fact that it wasn't moving, but again, it was so high and so far away, I've never seen a helicopter that high up before. If it was a police helicopter, it was extremely high and definitely over the ocean.

I continued to watch from my apartment balcony for approximately 45 minutes. The only movement from the light was that it very, very slowly traveled down toward the horizon. I only noticed this movement because I could tell that it was in a different position relative to the top of an electric pole than when I first started watching it. This is also how I could tell that it wasn't a star, because none of the other stars in the sky had moved that much since I had begun watching.

I filmed it on my small digital camera that I have. It's very poor quality, but you can plainly see that the object is flashing red and blue (and maybe other colors too). I notice that you don't have an option to send video, so I've uploaded my poor quality video here:

Again, it was glimmering or glinting as well as flashing red and blue, sort of from one side of the object to the other, while maintaining a consistent bright white light as well.

I want to say that I saw it slightly wiggle around or move slightly in its immediate area, but that could have been my eyes playing tricks on me.

I watched it until it went behind the hill that was blocking my view, and I'm not sure how much longer it was there for after that. I've done some research online and can't find anyone else who had seen it.
