Two faint bluish-white lights streak in a slightly wobbly way under the lunar eclipse over LA.
I was looking up at the closing stages of the lunar eclipse with two companions who were speaking and not paying attention when I suddenly noticed two faint but distinct bluish-white lights streaking across the sky just a few degrees below the moon.
From my vantage point in the Hollywood area the eclipse was taking place in the sky south from us at a high, approximately 75 or so degree angle. We stood next to the base of a one story building, which took up two-thirds of the view of the southern sky. The eclipse took place a few degrees above the tiles of the roof, and just a few degrees below a cable tv wire. The objects streaked through this view within these narrow sky boundaries. They moved in a 10:00 o'clock to 4 o'clock path at a rate of speed fast enough to span this space in just a few seconds.
I began tracking the one on the left, which seemed slightly brighter while it also trailed one that I only barely perceived that was almost immediately below the line of sight due to the roof. I was able to view it for only 3 seconds before it too was blocked by the roof. It took place as the haze of the marine cloud layer was passing over the city, and the haze was backlit somewhat by the moon making the observation attempts by my friends very challenging in the brief moment they had to respond to me.
I immediately tried to understand what the two lights were since they were not flying in a straight line despite having a velocity similar to shooting stars. The precise movement of the lead one on the right couldn't be observed but I clearly saw the one on the left have subtle shifts and wobble-like movements as it rapidly traversed my line of sight and miles of the sky in those short moments.
