I-5 North at mile marker 255. While I'm the only person reporting the event, I expect everyone else in that traffic would have seen it as well, numbering in the hundreds.
Two white lights, spaced roughly 10 feet apart, hovering motionless 100 feet over the north bound road. As I approach any light in the sky I always attempt to identify any blinking lights as are required by the FAA. This had none.
It was dark outside but the clouds in the landscape were lit slightly by the city below and through the two lights in the sky I could see the clouds. I saw no craft supporting the lights. I looked for it through my rear view upon moving further down the interstate, but the lights had vanished by then.
When you called me, I was a bit unclear on the exact location, and I'm sorry for that. I've since gone back down the interstate and identified a landmark beside which I saw the lights.
