Red, blue, green flashing lights with intermittent bright white pinpoint lights quickly and randomly flashing around perimeter.
I was looking at the rising full moon in the eastern sky last night with my binoculars. My peripheral vision caught a light source higher and slightly north. My initial thought was that it was Jupiter. However, when I viewed it through the binocs, it turned out to be one of the mysterious red, blue, green flashing light objects that my husband and I have been seeing frequently since we moved from CT to PA 5 years ago.
This time was different though. Around the outside of the multi-colored flashing light area, smaller bright white pinpoints of light would flash for 1 to 2 seconds at randomly dispersed places and distances, but never too far away, from the central lights.
I could not discern any shape. I wanted to use my telescope and quickly opened a more advantageous window shade. It was gone, leaving only the perfectly round white light of Jupiter further to the south and, of coarse, the moon. It seems every time I try to get out my scope, it goes away.
