Bright reddish-orange sphere in southern night sky.

My father and I were in the pool when we noticed a bright, reddish-orange sphere appear in the eastern sky. It flew across the sky, from the east to west; our pool area faces south and we were able to watch it as it crossed the night sky to the south of us. It moved at a high rate of speed.
It was difficult to determine the altitude of the object, but it could not have been more than several thousand feet. There were no flashing lights. It made absolutely no noise. It was a bright, illuminated, reddish-orange object and it flew on a level course.
During the 35-40 second sighting, our neighbor’s dog began barking (this could have been a response to our excited conversation during the sighting).
