Reddish-orange lights in diamond formation with a trail of lights following behind or below seen by family in Santa Fe skies
My two brothers, my niece, my brother-in-law and I saw lights Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at around 9:15 p.m. toward the Northeast of our front yard, in the direction of the Ski Basin, or Santa Fe Baldy. These lights were up in the sky, OVER the mountains in the DIRECTION of the Ski Basin. There were four lights, kind of in a diamond formation, with a trail of additional lights clustered beneath the first lights. They kind of went from a reddish-orange color to yellow and, finally, as they faded off across the sky in the distance, they got lighter in color, almost a whitish-yellow.
My brother noticed an airplane flying in the vicinity at the time. We don't know if there is any connection between the plane and the lights or they just both happened to be there at the same time. The plane did not seem to be following the lights or escorting it or anything like that.
I tried to take a picture of them with my cell phone and I also tried to videotape them, but the photos did not come out; nothing on the videotape either. All I got was black sky and the lights from the neighbor's house across the street. Maybe, if I had used my regular digital camera instead, I would have gotten better results. Oh, well!
My brother and my niece took off in our niece's car, trying to follow the lights and get a better look with binoculars. They went all over the place, looking for a better view that was unobstructed by trees or buildings, but, by that time, the lights had already flown off into the distance.
