A flickering clump of lights, alternating green, red, white, and occasionally blue.. Due east, high above Sandia Mtns. Stationary.
10-19-13: ~ 2300 My hubby and I were sitting on the patio facing the Sandia Mtn range, in Rio Rancho, looking at the stars. I noticed a flickering light, due east over the mountain, and thought it was a plane coming in straight towards us. But it didn't change. It remained in the same spot for at least 15 minutes.
I'd grabbed the binoculars, and it was hard to determine a shape, because of the constantly flickering colors. But it appeared to have 5-6 alternately flickering "lights", with predominately green, red and white colors, occasionally a flash of blue.
It did not move, and we went inside, concluding that it must be a ballon or weather craft. Has anyone else experienced this?
