Auditory phenomena of unknown origin repeated at same time at two week interval

I live in Northern Illinois about 90 miles northwest of Chicago and 4 miles south of Walworth county Wisconsin.

At about 2 am on the morning of September 23, 2013, I was awakened by a very loud sound coming from outside. It sounded like an electronic fax signal only much louder.

I went to the sliding door of my bedroom that opens to the outside. I live on the edge of a 675 acre natural area. There was nothing out there, no visible lights or vehicles. The single long electronic signal was followed by a long sequence of signals that sounded like morse code, very crisp and loud and almost metallic. The sound seemed to be coming from all around. I could not see the sky over head because I was standing under a porch roof. I was considering walking out into the yard so I could see what was over the building when the sound suddenly stopped. It was then dead silent. No sounds of any kind.

In a few seconds I heard the fax signal and then the morse code sound coming faintly from a distance in the northwest. Then it was gone. There was no visual phenomena associated with the sound.

Again this morning on October 8, 2013, I was awakened at 1:57 am by the tail end of the fax-like signal, followed by the loud morse code like signals. Again I went to my door and opened it. There was nothing visible, just the sound enveloping me from all directions, very loud. The sky that was visible to me from the porch looking north was clear and stars were visible. I was afraid to go out into the yard.

At 2:04 am the signals stopped suddenly, followed by dead silence. Then in a few seconds they were repeated coming very faintly but discernibly from the northwest. Again, there was nothing visual to associate with the sound.

I stood at the opened door and continued to listen. Whatever was emitting the signals was travelling northwest and repeating them at intervals, because I heard another set coming even more faintly as if even farther away. Then I could not hear anymore.

I have lived here eight years and am very familiar with the local sounds. This is totally unlike anything I have ever heard. The quality of the sound is particularly unique as it seems to come from all directions in the immediate vicinity. I felt cocooned in the sound.

I was wondering if this is reportable as a possible UFO. These are not sight experiences, but they are so odd I am wondering if you may have received similar reports of sound experiences of unknown origin.

I am an accountant, I have two master’s degrees, I am healthy, do not drink or use any substances, and I have no hearing abnormalities. And I am very curious to find out if you have received any other reports of this nature.
