230+ fireballs formed the shape of a Christmas tree and then split into 2 parallel lines of two groupings and continued from the east
The event started at roughly 9:30PM to 10pm. I live on a mountain and have a view of roughly 300 miles of mountain ranges. I went out on the back porch with my family and we were all struck with the "omg what is that" feeling. The orange lights were solid and formed a Christmas tree pattern in the valley below me roughly 15 miles away so we had an awesome view.
At first I thought they were lanterns being sent into the air but quickly realized that was not the case as they would move in formation in pairs of two - three and then a line of fireballs behind those three that shaped a triangle. They did not ever break formation except to break apart into smaller groups but stayed the same distance from each other.
There are absolutely no roads where these objects were flying.
I tried to get picture but none would show the balls just blackness. I can however vividly recall every formation and movement compared to my view of the mountain ranges and stationary street lights that I can see at night so I can recreated in pictures their movements if needed.
