2013-07-15 - Tucson, AZ - Light

One white light, solid, heading N. to S. and one red light, solid, heading W.to E. both overhead and seeminly near to each other.

Time is fuzzy, not really sure how accurate but I usually get up around that time to let my cat in. I sleep very odd hours, little bits at a time due to the nature of my job as a pharmacy tech at a VA Hospice, as sometimes I am on call.

First object was pure white, it looked like a planet which is usually what I look for every night. It had no twinkle like a star so I immediately went to it and watched it briefly and noticed it was moving and figured it was probably a meteor or a satellite. It was almost directly over head toward East/Southeast, I had to tilt my head back to observe it.

At the same time this was going on, I noticed a solid red light further East/Northeast moving at the exact same speed as the white light. Both faded out of sight, nothing real spectacular.

My father was an amateur astronomer so I'm a bit more familiar with stars/planets and other less interesting moving objects in the sky. I also grew up near an airport and I'm sure it was not a plane as, again, neither lights blinked. There were no physics defying movements, nothing flashy it just came out of nowhere and then faded out. It all happen within 2 minutes or less.

I have an interest in UFOs but I am a skeptic as far as belief in ! alien life is concerned, not because I believe we're the only sentient lifeforms that exist but simply because of the apparent vastness of time and space. This information is important because I've never reported anything like this before. As an avid skywatcher in an amateur astronomer's heaven in a dimly lighted area of Southeast Arizona.

We do have a main street 2 blocks up and a facility right up the street that contributes to light pollution but other than that we have a pretty good view as opposed to other parts of Tucson and far better than most of Metropolitan Phoenix.
