At around 6:20 Est. (sic. p.m.) my wife and I were driving around Cades Cove loop in the GSMNP located in Townsed, TN. I noticed what looked like a metallic sphere in the sky and pointed it out to my wife. The sphere was moving slowly through the sky in a southward direction. We stopped the van and got out to photograph the object.
As we were trying to photograph the object it seemed to vanish.
The whole incident happened within 30 sec to a minute.
Within several minutes of the sphere vanishing 2 jets flying in formation were in the area. I can not say for certain that the jets were military, but by judging by their size, the fact that they were flying in a close nit formation, and their altitude, I feel safe assuming that the 2 jets were military. Compared to the size of the jets the metallic sphere had to have been huge.
We thought we had not gotten a photo of the object, but after reviewing the photo we did happen to capture the sphere in a very blurry image.
