Spherical orange light/object (not a lantern) seen in Plymouth, UK.
Spherical deep orange/red light/object hovering stationary in the sky. After a few seconds a smaller, flashing, red light dropped down from underneath and quickly faded/disappeared. After about 2 minutes the main object/light slowly drifted directly away from my viewpoint, got smaller and disappeared.
There was no sound so not a helicopter, and it definitely wasn't a Chinese lantern as the main light didn't flicker and I'm very used to seeing lanterns in this area.
Unfortunately I was unable to record or take a photo.
Probably unrelated as it's a holiday weekend here (and no doubt busy for the police etc), but just after the main object/light disappeared a helicopter started circling some 150-300 yards away.
