3-4 orange orbs moving across Spider Lake
Date: Friday February 22, 2013 Time: approximately 7:15pm Location: T9 R11 WELS, Piscataquis County, Maine Coordinates: -69.195, 46.438 My 18 year old son and his 16 year old friend were on the frozen lake in front of camp checking ice fishing traps when we heard them start yelling and then came running back up the hill and into camp.
Once we got them calmed down they explained something was going on outside in the sky. My son described it as several orange flares. His friend thought they looked more like the Asian balloons that have the candles in them. They said they could hear a dog going crazy on the other side of the lake.
After about 10 minutes my friend and I decided we should go out and see if we could see anything. It was at this time I noticed a bright orange light flickering and moving towards the camp from the other side of the lake. As I walked into the driveway to try and get a better view I noticed two more of the same lights. They at first were in a triangle formation but as time went on they separated and moved in different directions.
Over the course of the next 30 to 40 minutes they would leave and then come back. Finally, a high altitude jet went over head and we could see the red and green blinking navigational lights as well as it contrail. The flying orbs were still visible and appeared to be a larger object and brighter light than the jet. It was at this point when we could hear a sound but it seemed more to be from the jet than the orbs. The orbs made no sound that we could hear. As the noise from the jet became louder the orbs just kind of blinked out one by one and we did not see them again.
The dog(s) across the lake also stopped barking after the orbs disappeared.
