Those New Mexicans from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe that reported a bright object near the moon really saw a helium balloon.
WASP Flight #635N launched from Ft. Sumner,NM drifted South of Albuquerque during the late afternoon of 09/22 and both balloon and payload were clearly visible when viewed through binoculars. Flight #635N terminated at 05:32.04Z on 09/23/12 just East of Zuni, NM. after reaching an altitude of 35,373 Ft.
