2012-08-06 - Conway and Economy Boro, PA - Fireball

On Saturday, August 6th, 2012 we attended Conway Community Days. After the fireworks everyone started clearing out and we let our 8 year old son play one more game that was still running before leaving. We drove to the bottom of the hill to get gas, about ½ mile away and on our way back up the hill we could see this large red ball of light above the field that we had just left. It was about 10:20 pm. We pulled off of the road in the store parking lot and watched this object hover for about 3-4 minutes, never moving and not making a sound. It slowly started moving away getting smaller and it disappeared then reappeared and disappeared again. The moon was full and off to the right. The total time it was in view was approximately 6-7 minutes. We watched the sky the rest of the way home, about 7 miles, but never saw it appear again. My son was a little freaked out but we told him it was just a light and there was nothing to worry about.

On Friday, August 17th at about 10:30 pm I went out on my front porch to smoke and my son and dog followed me out the door. I tied the dog and looked up and noticed this Large red object coming over the trees and said, “What the H*** is that?” My son said, “It looks like a helicopter.” It was the shape of a helicopter with the front end on the left, rounded and completely glowing red and what would have been the tail end on the left, a straight line of red to the right. It was not a helicopter. It was coming toward our house in that direction, sideways. It made no sound at all and was fairly low to the ground. I told my son to go get his dad. It came about 150 yards toward me and then totally disappeared before reaching my house. My son came back out to tell me his dad wasn’t coming out. He asked me where it went and I told him it was gone. He looked towards the woods straight across from my house and said, “What is that?” It looked like a white dome descending o! ver the trees. The he yelled, “Look mom, there are two more!” Coming from the exact same location as the first one, two red balls of light came over the trees and continued in a path over the house until they were out of site. My husband finally came out to see what the commotion was only to see the tail end of the lights which were quite small at this time. My son is crying at this time and a little hysterical. My husband told him they were airplanes and I told him if it was something scary, I surly wouldn’t be standing outside watching them and looking for more. At this point my husband is trying to convince me that I’m seeing airplanes. I know what an airplane looks like and these most certainly were NOT airplanes.

August 21st, about 1:30 am. My husband got out of bed to take the dog out and straight ahead of my porch were 2 glowing red balls. He said he watched them for a few minutes just hover there and then slowly get smaller until they disappeared. He did not inform of this until this afternoon but told me they most definitely were not airplanes he was looking at.

I found this site on the computer and see that there was another witness to the 2 fireballs on Friday night from Conway, which is about 8 miles from me so I thought I would put up a post also. I’m curious to know if the timeframe was similar, although they did not report the helicopter shaped object. The 2 fireballs came about 3 minutes after the 1st one.
