fireball seen in sky over long island
My son and I were travelling north heading home at approximately 9:00 pm. We saw what looked like a burning ball in the sky about 100 feet above the ground moving slowly east. It stopped moving east and started moving north and lifting very rapidly until it disappeared. The object looked like a basketball on fire. I have seen Chinese lanterns and this did not look like one. This is the second time we have seen this object. The last time was 8/11/2011 at approximately the same time.
