2012-07-04 - Medical Lake, WA - Fireball

Four fireballs, visible south from Medical Lake, WA

Looking south from Medical Lake, WA, as my girlfriend and I were watching the neighborhood fireworks, we noticed 3 small orange flickering balls in the sky that did not appear to be fireworks. They lingered for several minutes in place, apparently not moving. At first I figured they were the remnants of some fireworks, possibly burning embers, but they didn't move, they stayed stationary until they eventually faded.

Meanwhile, another brighter one was moving from the West toward the same location in the sky, slowly. We thought at first, could these be airplanes? No, there was an airplane moving farther toward the west, and they looked nothing alike. The color of the moving object was yellow/orange like the others and also flickering, like fire. Being the night of the 4th, logic would say these were some remnants of fireworks, but they sure didn't look or behave like any fireworks I've ever seen. It was a full moon too, but the moon was of course to the South! East, and was visible. They weren't the moon, or stars either. Meanwhile, around that same time, a friend in nearby Davenport, WA saw something too but I haven't talked to him yet to get the details.
