Three orange-red objects were circling over Arlington,WA. on Fourth of July.
Two and sometimes three red and sometimes red and yellow lights traveling in mostly the eastern sky at various speeds from stop to fairly fast. Quite a distance from us and varied from about 5 degrees to 60 degrees high in the sky. No sound but probably too far away to hear if there any sounds. Sometimes they were completely stationary for a time and instead of moving on they would fade away. Later they would reappear in another part of the sky and cruise toward the original location of the first sighting ( gathering place?) T
he first appearance of the third light appeared to originate at ground level halfway down the side of a forested hill about a mile away from our house. It rose slowly and steadily (like an elevator) to well above the horizon to join the other two. Then they all faded away. After that you could expect to see them appear just about anywhere in the sky.
If you let your imagination run a bit, it was like they were curious about all the fireworks going on as they often seemed to collect and completely stop above a specific location that had the most fireworks activity and artificial light. Our neighbor observed most of this activity also and helped search the night sky to see where they would appear next.
The duration of this activity was at least a couple hours and was still going on when we went to bed.
FYI: My husband and I are retired educators.
