2012-07-03 - Washougal, WA - Fireball

I witnessed an orange/pinkish orb levitating silently high over the Columbia River.

On July 3, 2012 around 10:30pm I was in Washougal, Washington celebrating a friend’s birthday. While we were standing on the balcony of the house, my friend shouted, “What the heck is that thing?” When I turned around, I was looking south over the Columbia River and I saw an orange glowing orb silently levitating high over the river. The orange orb was highlighted by a pink hue. The orb was heading east over the river. I quickly pulled out my phone and took two pictures. I continued to watch this orange orb move east and it visually changed direction and then headed south over Oregon. This happened a few minutes past 10:30pm. After we initially noticed the orb, I witnessed it in sight for roughly 5-6 minutes. There were 4 other people who witnessed this event with me.

A few weeks ago, a co worker of mine told me that she witnessed the same type of objects flying overhead while she was camping. This is one reason why I took any regards to taking a photo and making a report. What I saw directly related to what she reported seeing to me. I currently work in Vancouver in the social service field. I often drive the local highway, and living so close the Portland airport has experienced me in identifying what is an airplane, and what is not. I know for a fact that what I saw was not an airplane.
