Dancing lights that would fly around and then merge into one light
We went to Morely Field in Balboa Park in San Diego to walk our dog at night between 10:30 and 11:00 pm. There are very few people in the park at that time because they close the parking lot and you need to park on a side street and walk into the park. It was a cool damp misty sort of night with clouds and lots of layers of atmosphere. We saw these dancing lights in the sky and at first tried to explain it--maybe strobe lights or reflections of some kind but nothing made sense. The lights would start from one source, then spread out and dance around and then return to the source light. The whole sky had a different quality to it, almost like a magnetic type of storm. This went on for 5-10 minutes, then the lights returned to their source point. I could still see where they were, it was a slight glow in the clouds, but they stayed there and stopped dancing. I had the feeling it knew we were watching. The source light was still there when we left the park. We ! have been back to the park several times since, but have not encountered those conditions or seen the lights again.
