looked similar to shooting star, but flew much slower and suddenly lit up with incredible brightness and disappeared
On the early morning of May 21, 2012 my husband and I were arriving home from a get together. We live in a very dark, remote area of town and it's very easy to see the stars in the night sky.
As I was fumbling through my purse for my house keys, my husband was behind me looking back at the sky. I had just seen a shooting star when we were exiting our vehicle, so he was trying to spot one too. Suddenly, he said "look at that!" When I turned around I saw a white light that was flying across the sky over a distant mountain. It definitely was flying at a slower speed than a shooting star but it looked like something similar. I had enough time to turn around and witness it along with my husband. All of a sudden, the light grew much, much brighter and in my opinion appeared to "blast off" from the original speed it was flying. In my husband's opinion after the object lit up it looked to him like it flew down or landed somewhere but it happened very, very quickly. It was beautiful and truely amazing.
