2012-04-26 - Mammoth, AZ - Light

6 huge balls of orange light seen east of Mammoth, Arizona

I had parked my travel trailer on the desert and was camping about 2 miles east of Mammoth Arizona. I was in my truck talking on the cell phone when I noticed, through my windshield, a very large bright orange ball of light which appeared well above the horizon of the Galiura Mountain range east of the city of Mammoth, Arizona. It was at least 8 miles west of the city. At first I thought it might be an aerial flare used by the military.

Assuming that this object was facing me another object of the same size appeared just to its right but a little lower in elevation. Then the second object temporarily “turned off” when a 3rd object appeared to the left of the first object but just slightly higher in elevation but of equal distance from the first object as was the second object. As the 3rd object appeared the first object went out or disappeared.

I ended my phone call rather abruptly and headed to my trailer to get my camera. This all happened within about 45 seconds of the first appearance of the first orange ball. As I headed to my trailer I had noticed that they all had disappeared but as I got to the door of my trailer I noticed that one of them had appeared again.

Then it went out just as another appeared but farther to the south and then it went out as another one appeared giving it an effect of “cycling” one to the next. There were a total of five objects that were cycling and they were in a straight line at about an 8 degree angle. I use the term “cycling” because I had read another persons description from another UFO reporting website use this description and I thought it fit best. If anyone has ever seen the lights on a Marquee at a theater you would notice that the lights seem to move but it’s really an optical illusion because they are only going out in a pattern and it’s the adjacent light that goes on making it appear that they are moving. The orange lights that I saw were similar to this but a lot slower and much further apart.

After the five lights had gone out I thought that maybe the “show” was over but I got my camera anyway. One more orange ball appeared but much lower and at the other end of the 5 lights that had appeared and then went out after about 10 seconds.

I have seen hundreds of thousands of landing lights from aircraft in my life and there wasn’t any possibility that these were aircraft landing lights from a plane.

I have seen these orange spheres over the Picacho Mountains about 60 miles to the west several months ago. It starts out with one orange ball glowing and then another one appears just to its right but a little below the first one. Then another orange ball appears to its left but slightly higher. The sightings over the Picacho Mountains lasted for several minutes but didn’t have the 5 lights that were “cycling”. I took pictures of the lights but they came out streaked because of the cameras movement. A fixed tripod would have been the best to use for this purpose but I didn’t have one available.

If this is an elaborate hoax someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make it convincing. The only way this could be done would be to use helicopters or ultra-lites. The timing would have to be perfectly set up to have the lights go on and then off in the order that they were seen. Plus, there would have had to have had 6 aircraft there at the same time. Who knows, maybe someone will figure out what they really were.
