Two huge red spheres over Moriches Long Island witnessed by officer

I was working the 4x12 shift as a security officer and the weather was clear at that time. As I was writing two small red lights caught my eye not because there's always air traffic from local airports but they started with a small but bright flash from 1-2 miles away. Heading straight for me, they made a smooth turn in the flight path towards the airport. Meanwhile there was a small plane close ahead but a little lower so I used that as a measure for the spheres when they were closest to me. They were big, at least 3or4 small planes in height stacked up. The second one was identical,seemed independent and followed close behind the first. They maintained the same speed as the plane ahead,and made no sound. As the plane went to land, they kept going making a turn. At that point I was hoping to see there opposite sides but they started to shrink in size and went out like a old tv set would shut off when the picture turns into a line, then a dot, then disappears but very slow. They had beautiful red coloring to them but a different red than I have seen.
