Triangular shaped object.Size of large van.No noise or physical disturbance. Two rear white lights, one green light
While heading northwest on East Maine Rd., 2.2 miles from the junction with Rte. 26 in Maine, I spotted a set of lights to the west, just above the tree line, and pulled over to take a better look. With the lights on my vehicle off, as well as the engine no longer running, I could observe it better. The object was hovering about 25 feet off of the top of a large, long distance power line tower. Few clouds were in the distance, but the immediate sky above and around my location was clear, and sunset occurred at 6:54 that evening, approximately 20 minutes before first spotting the object, leaving residual light in the sky. I stood across the road from my vehicle, on the side closest to the object, and watched it hover for a little over 3 minutes. The object never moved, never made a noise, and it never disturbed any surrounding treetops or power lines, suspended less than 30 feet away. The triangle was isosceles, with a single white light at each of the two cl! osest vertices, and a slightly dimmer green light at the third. It was not a very large object, no more than 30 feet long from the tip with the green light to the flat side between the 2 white lights, and no more than 20 feet wide from white light to white light. After watching it for just over 3 minutes, before I could approach the base of the power line tower it was hovering above, it very slowly, and still with absolutely no noise, began traveling East. It picked of speed gradually from it’s hovering position to a rapid rate of speed just out of sight above the trees, a distance of a quarter mile. I stood on the side of the road, watching the direction where it had gone, for about 5 minutes before returning to my vehicle and continuing on to Rte. 26. After telling a close friend what I had seen, he recounted an event in 1977 where he spotted a similar object. It was a clear night about 2:00 am in Binghamton, NY. The object was identical in appearance, made no noise when ! moving, and hovered motionless over his home for several minut! es.
