My experience happened earlier this evening.
I was driving south on the northeast extension, had already passed through the lehigh tunnel and was approx 15 miles north of landsdale. I saw what I first thought to be a meteor flying east across the sky and losing altitude rapidly.
I realized as its trajectory evened out and speed slowed that it was not a shooting star but maybe a helicopter at this point it appeared red.
It then changed direction going west then abruptly stopping and returning to the east side of the highway where in came to a full stop in the sky.
As it was flying back and fourth it shifted its color smoothly from red to green. soon after it had become stationary we drove past it on the highway. From underneath it seemed to have a triangular shape. Three white lights forming the points of the triangle.
It was tough to tell how high up it was or its size. It seemed to be scanning the highway not from directly above but from a seemingly adjacent position to the highway. I could the object continuing remain in the same spot in the sky and to glow green in my mirrors for several minutes as we moved away from the location on the highway.
There was heavy traffic on the road many others must have seen this.
I want to think it was a helicopter, but it moved so fast and the lights did not flash but shifted.
Did anyone else observe this earlier tonight? (saturday july 23 approx 9- 9:15 pm)
