Bright star-like light makes radical movement above Douglas Creek, Washington on April 29th, 2011

((NUFORC Note: Sighting of International Space Station. PD))

On the night of April the 29th, 2011, sometime around midnight, several of my friends and I spent the evening at an outdoor party in the valley wrapped around Douglas Creek--about 10 miles from the small town of Douglas. This party happens every year.

My friends and I gathered around our campsite, looking into the clear night sky. We could see every star.

As we watched, my friend grabbed my arm and pointed to the west. We could see a bright light--a star, as it appeared. We noted the light as it intensified. I became thrilled--this star is becoming brighter.

We watched the star become brighter, and brighter. Within a moment, the star became so bright, we could nolonger see the smaller stars in the sky. We realized that this light was in our atmosphere. And because it remained in a fixed position in the sky while intensifying in brightness, we conjectured we were looking at a satellite, and it appeared to be travelling in our direction.

After about a minute, maybe two, the intensifying light which appeared fixed in its position in the sky began to move east in an eliptical direction around the area--it never flew directly over us.

At this point, we started getting excited. We were sure this was some kind of satellite, and that it was going to hit the earth. It was moving at very high speed, much faster than any plane. Yet, we heard nothing. It moved around Douglas Creek, traveling east toward the horizon. The light appeared to be flying low enough to hit the mountainside on the eastern side of the valley. We watched eagerly to see the collision.

Well, the light traveled east toward the Horizon, but stopped above the mountainside--still several hundered feet in the air. It stood fixed in the sky, as it had when we saw it in the west a moment earlier.

At this point we became really excited. We watched this light, fixed in the eastern sky, intensify as it had when we first saw it, and it slowely faded to black.

The truely amazing thing about this sighting was the intensity of the light. It lit the entire sky. The night was still, and we could see every star in the sky before. However, this light overpowered all others as it closed in. While we watched, all other stars faded. When the light disappeared, all was calm and clear as it was before.

I'm not sure what we saw--None of us are sure what we saw. It was very interesting. I told many of my friends and co-workers, and I heard of some local legends of "spooklights" over Waterville, a small town outside of Doulgas, our location.

After hearing of this, I did some research, and saw some local reports of this strange phenomena; however, the videos of these "spooklights" is not what we saw. What we saw did not change directions, and didn't move as quickly. What we saw was a single, much brighter--white light--not a dim orange light. And this light looked like a star, at first, as it stood fixed in the west. Then the light looked like an aircraft as it travelled east.

Before the light disappeared, it looked more like a star, again, as it had in the west before it moved. It was all very bizzare.

I hope this information will be helpfull at some point. I'm not a UFO buff, by any means, but what I saw blew my mind. I will never forget the odd behavior of this light--like nothing I could have imagined.

Take care. Good fortune in future endeavors.
