Two lights changing from column to right echelon formation traveling appx. due north with no commercial flights listed in the area.
On April 6, 2017, at approximately 0305 a. m. CST, I pulled my car onto a road under construction at 11600 S. Union to stretch my legs. I turned the car off and began to look up at the stars. As I scanned the sky clockwise, I observed the Ursa Major constellation. I continued to scan the sky and saw what appeared to be two stars in an area of the sky east of Ursa Major which were unfamiliar to me. As I watched, I noticed their position in the sky was changing in relation to other stars. A check of my watch indicated the time as 0307 hours.
The lights that initially thought to be stars were moving approximately due north in a column formation. As the two lights continued to travel northward, the trailing light began to maneuver north-northeast and came into a right echelon position in respect to the first light. I continued to watch the lights travel north until I lost visual due to the cities’ light pollution.
The lights were white in color, similar to starlight. The lights exhibited no flashing or blinking. No collision or marker lights were observed.
I found atmospheric conditions to be clear and cloudless skies, 42* F, according to my cellular telephone, and the moon was in the western sky and a Waxing Gibbous.
At 0309, a check of my flight tracker app indicated no cataloged commercial flights traveling northbound over Oklahoma, Kansas, western Missouri or western Arkansas.
