Intensely bright red light in the sky which hovered shortly direclty overhead and was seen again in woods minutes later
A friend and I were driving down the road when we notice what we thought was a red blinking cell tower in a region with little/no cell phone coverage. The light moved closer until it within 30-50 feet of the vehicle we were in. It shined a light so bright it appeared similar to a red laser being shined in your eyes, it was over within second but left us both feeling very strange and scared. Farther down the road there is a bright light emitting from the woods of a similar color to the one we previously had seen we didn't investigate further and got off the roads.
