Small lights with a larger eye-like object.

I had gone outside to smoke a cigarette and was looking east over the Colorado River when I saw some lights come on to the north of my location. Turning my direction to the sighting, I saw 3 to 5 lights show up just to the right of the big dipper. The lights were small and I thought at first that it must be skydivers, but then the lights just went out and there was nothing in the sky behind them. When I started to see the lights come on I noticed a shape starting to come into focus just to the left of the first lights.

The shape was approximately the shape of a human eye with a shiny silver glow over the top and bottom of the eye formation (somewhat like eye liner) and seemed fairly large to me. The shape was fully lighted in an outline shape and the center was somewhat void of color except for three yellowish-white circles spaced evenly and horizontal across the center of what would be the pupil area. This sighting lasted approximately 30 to 45 seconds when the lights just disappeared. As with the other lights I saw the lights of the shape just went out and there was nothing but sky left. The shape never moved and it was as if someone had turned on the lights then turned them off again. This object looked as if it was about a little less than a mile away and if I had put up my hand to try to cover it up, in a horizontal manner, it would have extended beyond my palm. It appeared just to the left, and above, of a rock hill just up-river from my location. Also in reference to the big ! dipper I could only see three stars of the big dipper formation when the shape appeared, but then saw the whole formation after it blinked out.

The night was clear with a three-quarter moon and fairly bright. There was a small light cloud to the right of the big dipper but it was very wispy looking.

The total of the experience took place within about a minute or so after seeing the first lights to the end of seeing the shape just disappear.
