If I had to guess, I would say it could have been some sort of prank that was common in the early to mid-60's, where garbage bags were
Round/oval shape 4X greater than size of a star was seen through my windshield moving from south to north along Bothell-Everett (SR 527) Highway in the Canyon Park section of Bothell, traversing under the cresent moon at an angle of slightly under 45', and ascending slowly but appeared to cover approx. 5 miles in distance, toward the city of Mill Creek and Everett, Washington.
I made a right turn headed north in my vehicle as the object traversed my path, headed slightly east, then north-west and away from me. It appears to have a very bright burning center as it changed it's intensity slightly from time to time. The "burning-bright center" appeared to have some red in it, but mostly it was a steady bright object.
I then made another right hand turn onto 228th St., headed east and could now see the object through the bare trees out of my driver's side window, over my left shoulder as the object was now headed north-west away from me. While the object did not appear to lose itensity or colour, it was getting smaller as it headed north-west. I had one passenger who called my attention to the object in the first place. My passenger also commented that at least one other person standing on the roadway also appeared to be witnessing what we saw.
This was not a plane nor was it a helicopter, in our opinion. At first the object was close enough to us to us so that if it were any type of normal aircraft, we'd have heard it.
The area was back lit by normal ground light from homes and businesses in the area. It was dark and the weather was windy with spotty, low clouds that obliterated the moon from time to time.
