Bright white spherical object flying low over Roosevelt Road near Elmhurst, IL

I was driving eastbound on Roosevelt road near york road in my SUV after having dinner with an old college friend. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed what I thought was a very low flying "small air plane, or helocopter). It was very overcast that night and I could see the outline of the large round object through the clouds.

At a second glance, I clearly saw the object's outline (perfectly round and bright white glow). There was light traffic traveling in both directions. I was surprised that the object was flying relatively close to the ground (approx. 300 feet off of the ground; not much higher than the street lights or the tree tops).

The object emmited a solid, bright white light and moved silently in a northwest direction at what speed I cannot say, but was able to keep pace with it and for 30 secs. and keep it in my sight out of the driver's side window.

I called the object to the attention of my passenger, so that I could get a second opinion ! of exactly what the object in question was. The passenger could not identify with any certainty what the object was either. I was not playing the radio, given our close proximity we couldn't hear its sound. That fact surprised us both.

Since I live close to O'hara airport, I am used to hearing and seeing aircraft flying over head. We continued to watch the object until it was no longer in view, as I continued to drive (away from it).

Please know, I'm pretty skeptical about these sorts of things. Although this happened three weeks ago, I haven't forgotten it.

My friend refuses to speak about what we saw.

I just needed to share this experience with others who have encountered something similar.
