I was an HEMS Helicopter pilot on a flight to pick up a patient and I was wearing generation 3 Night vision goggles (Gen. 3 NVG). We were at cruising altitude and I always enjoyed looking at the stars, night sky and plans that were flying hundreds of miles away while letting the auto pilot flying the aircraft.
As I was looking up I saw 4 parallel extending and interconnecting light bulbs. They looked liked lighting strikes as you see them on photos, but were expanding within 2-3 seconds which ended up a becoming a rectangular box. It was only visable through my NVG´s. maybe it was some type of HARP technology? I have never seen it again since then.
