A UFO Sighting over Hillside/ Union NJ, May, 2010
As dusk fell one clear night back in May of 2010, a girlfriend and I were heading South on the NJ Garden State Parkway, when we noticed a large, lime-green triangle some distance away in the sky. We were near the Bloomfield exit when we first noticed it, and we both knew it was something strange, as we have driven that route our entire adult lives…
It was far away, but apparently enormous, judging by the tiny pinpoints of aircraft lights from the planes which flew in every direction in close proximity to the object (Close to Newark Airport!).
I wasn't sure what I was seeing, my first thought was that it had to be the penthouse of some building lit-up for a party, but it was so impossibly bright I couldn't imagine anyone wouldn't be immediately blinded!
We continued down the parkway and it was obvious that other drivers were seeing it too, because everyone was driving erratically, even my girlfriend was all over the road and I was sure we were going to crash.! We managed to stay on course, watching the object grow larger and more detailed the closer we got.
By the time we reached our exit for Rte. 78 around Hillside/ Union, it was smack-dab next to us, and as we rounded the exit ramp there was a line of about 15 motorcyclists pulled over to the side, jumping up and down, screaming and pointing to the object! Now that we were next to it, I could see that it was hovering right above the tree-line, and it was HUGE! It was a soft sided triangle in shape; lit-up a fluorescent green that was more intense than any green I had seen before; it had a red light on the top that seemed to pulse like an organic heartbeat, I could feel it pulling at my chest with each pulse, that was the thing that terrified me the most; and it had a small, red flashing light on the bottom.
I kept yelling at my girlfriend to pull over, but she seemed disoriented and took the wrong exit, going the opposite way as the location of the object, as well as her home. She proceeded to get us lost in an area that we were familiar with, but it seemed that we were both disoriented now and common landmarks became unrecognizable… After a while we did make it back to her house, where I promptly jumped in my car and drove home in confusion of the night's events. For weeks I tried to find a rational explanation for what we had seen, but really there was only one ultimate answer… We had seen a UFO!!!! And so had hundreds of other people driving in NJ that night, but of course it never made the news.
I did hear that it was reported to the national database, and that there were reports of a similar object the following night over Basking Ridge.
