Thought it was a meteorite but then it changed course.
I was out on my lawn after dark, watching the sky for meteorites while I played with my dogs. I saw what looked like a large meteorite streaking down from the sky to the southwest. It had a tail but appeared larger than most that I'd seen before. It also appeared to be moving at roughly the same speed as a meteorite, of not faster. However, it lingered longer than normal, without burning out, and abruptly turned at a precise right angle (90 degrees), and shot back up into the sky before disappearing.
