In the summer of '08, I worked at a gas station. I closed at 10 pm, did my paperwork, put the money in the safe and went home. I was listening to a baseball game on the radio. A rather unusual game because the Cardinals (nl) don't usually play the Tigers (al) during the regular season.
I got home, parked and continued listening to the game. I noticed an orange light directly over hwy. 60. Eastbound. About twice the speed of traffic. I would guess about 130 mph.
About 3 minutes later, here comes another one. Same speed, same heading. Directly over the highway. Well, that night I watched dozens of them. Some dimmed, others went out. Most stayed the same.
The next night-same exact thing. The third night same thing again. Then a large single rotor helicopter flew directly overhead heading west. It was nearly silent. If I was indoors I wouldn't have heard it. It had its nav lights on.
After that, they were gone.
